Turning driver texts and voicemails into load status events
The update arrives as a photo of a signed bill of lading with no load number, or as a voicemail saying loaded and rolling. Somebody reads it, works out which order it belongs to, and types an event. Matching is the problem. A phone number maps to a driver, a driver maps to a truck, and the truck was reassigned this morning. Pinning an inbound message to one order needs the number checked against the last known stop, and it should refuse the match it cannot make instead of writing a plausible one.
The same seven facts about a load get typed into the system, then onto the bill of lading, then onto the invoice.
Volume freight moves on electronic data interchange rather than on modern interfaces. A tender goes out, a response comes back accepting or rejecting it, status messages flow during transit, and an invoice closes it. That much is standardised. Almost everything around it is not.

When this is the wrong thing to build
Pick something else if dispatch already sits on a driver app that posts events into the board, or your carriers run their own ELD feed straight into the TMS. This is for brokerages whose status traffic arrives on a mobile number that also takes personal calls.
The constraint that shapes it
Driving time is federally limited, recorded electronically, and structured as a daily driving limit inside a longer on-duty window after a required rest period, with a weekly ceiling on top. More on how this sector works.
Something arrives from anywhere. It becomes one record with one owner. Read what this shape is, or start from one of these.
- Turning portal leads into one shape a person can work
- Turning an after hours maintenance call into one work order
- Entering a new client once instead of four times
- Filing client email to the matter instead of the inbox
- Booking a service call without a person typing it
- Sorting a return visit into callback or new work

- Can a photo of a bill of lading be filed automatically?
- Why do check call updates arrive with no load number?
- How do brokers log status updates that come in by voicemail?
- What do I do when two drivers share one phone number?
